What Are We Ready For?
from 60 Seconds of Hope with Horace McMillon · host Horace McMillon
Send us Fan MailWhat Are We Ready For?‘Why did God wait until Jesus was 30? What kind of impact could he have had in his twenties?’ - a paraphrase of a terrific question posed in comments section earlier today. The Gospel of Luke says that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature (Luke 2:52). I believe like all of us, Jesus himself had to grow into his role. His work didn’t start earlier because he wasn’t ready. His time hadn’t come yet. What are the ways in which we need to grow? What are the gifts we need to develop? In what skills do we need to become proficient? What habits of thought, speech, action, or character do we need to embrace? More importantly, we need to ask ourselves what we are ready and capable of doing right now? While more growth and development will surely be required of all of us, there are things we are ready to do today. Perhaps the biggest temptation Jesus overcame was the temptation to wait for some other time to begin his work. It’s never the perfect time, but it’s always the right time to do what we can, where we are with what we have. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope.
