Yeah, but still, I look like a stick in the mud. No, you just look like there's something stuck in your butt and you're like, I'm Josh.
I'm at gunpoint. I'm Josh. This is off to a great start. I know. We've been planning this for how many years? Many, many years. In fact, we've had t-shirts with all the shows listed on it. And I even put this one on there hoping it would like kick us into gear, but it failed. It's been like three years in the making. Yeah, maybe more. And we finally found a show that we decided we wanted to start with. We're married, obviously. This is our 20th year in October. So maybe we'll have a peel box by then. If this is popular enough, people can send us some wedding gifts. Hopefully not a bomb or anything like that. But anyway, yeah. So we've been wanting... Well, I've been...
I mean, we've kind of both been wanting to do it, but I think I've been more persistent. I think as we go, you'll get kind of addicted a little bit, maybe. I think it'll be fun. It'll be fun. It'll be fun. It's cool. It's something fun we can do together. Yep, yep. So, like, kind of have a more laid-back setting. We're trying things here, so this is, like, the first episode, like I said, so we're going to, you know, adjust as we go, just like the other shows we do here on the Field of Geeks Network. But, yeah, we have our dogs with us. This is Rocket. Rocket, say hi.
Hey, this is Rocket. He's an Australian Shepherd. Yep. He's our big baby. Your mom is a big baby, aren't you? He likes to hurt, though. He'll bite you in a lovely way. He's mom's big baby. Yeah, unless rocket gets close to her and then yeah, they don't get along sadly. So what's that doctor who works on pets? Yeah, right. We need to have the insert that later. Sure. Why not? But the goal is to have laid back more laid back setting than the other shows. I mean, we all try to be laid back in a way not to fake or whatever. But I don't think you're fake at all. That's why I present yourself, you know, I don't know you're judged when you put this stuff out there This show is meant to be more Josh and I talking to each other Yes, which is going to be vast very yep, very very different genres every time Yeah, it's gonna be the same TV show. Yeah, we like true crime. We like romance. We like comedy There's gonna be a bit of everything. Yeah, yeah sure for sure and even if we go to a play or something Yeah, we might stretch that out and then we like yeah like you said I think you said we like true crime So we watching some of that now if we hear true crime like I don't want to show or whatnot. We might like watch like a snippet of it like someone put together and then that gives us like a leeway into what are we watching and we can kind of talk about what we've listened because you know, we don't want to It's not what we listened or what are we listening? Right, right, right. Not yet. Maybe we'll have a most of the time There will be something we could watch with it. So yes, and perhaps as we go along Maybe our children will make appearances our other children. We'll see they're kind of they're grown up now We're not so scared of them being on this kind of thing. This is for our empty nest years. We're just prepping

Yeah, I think we'll alternate as we go like you'll say hi, this is Steph and welcome to or Stephanie whatever you want to call yourself that week and then we'll be watching and then yeah, yeah, so this will be a Series of episodes for this one show because the show is a TV. It's Netflix. This is a Netflix series. It's a it's like a miniseries, right? It only has six episodes. Yes. So we'll go episode by episode. Yeah, we're gonna do one at a time. Otherwise, this will be very long and we've watched the first episode of this series. Yes. Overall, my thoughts on it are.
What are we watching? Well, it's a good time to kick this off because of that and Valentine's Day is coming up Which we don't really celebrate except go out and eat food, which is great, but we'll see about that this year I'm not sure how much I want to eat. Right. It's true. Me too. I'm cutting back a little bit No, but this is like it's it's on Netflix right now It's like one of the top shows on Netflix and what's it called? And this one is called his and hers and it is a fifth season production
Cool. I thought you said, like, fifth season. Like, what? No, that's the name of the production company. Yeah, that's cool. And this is episode one. Is it foreshadowing? Is there going to be five seasons of the show? Is that all they produce is five seasons? Oh, that'd be interesting. Go ahead, sorry. It's episode one. Yes. John Barenthal, who was Shane on The Walking Dead. Do you remember Shane? He went a little crazy. Yeah, I think I remember, like, especially after watching, I think I realized who it was. Yeah, he hooked up with Rick's wife because they thought Rick was dead. Oh, wait, I was thinking of Rick. So, no, I don't know. Did he die, like, in the... Yeah, spoilers. He died season two. Oh, so he died pretty early on. He basically, like, took care of his family as he was in a coma and then the zombie...
Apocalypse whatever happened and and then yeah, that was a big issue and Rick end up having a kid with Shane did okay. So yeah, I haven't watched that in a while It's been a while since we've watched zombies, but anyway John Barenthal is a great actor He played the Punisher in Netflix series as well Marvel of course. I think did you watch the Punisher with me? No, very good show. He's a great actor. He's really book solid right now He's I mean if you guys know what I'm talking about then yeah, he's he's busy guy So this whole cast is really I'll just talk about the ones I know Tessa Thompson. She was in Thor Ragnarok Love and Thunder. I think Endgame Avengers Endgame your favorites, you know, I just you guys I
We'll never know the names of the actors. She might eventually. She might. But Josh knows a lot of them and knows what they're in and things like that. I'd like to think I do, but yeah, I try. So that'll be his portion of this show for sure. Yes. She was also in Creed, Creed 2, and Creed 3. So forgive me if I missed some other ones she was in. Men in Black, whatever that one was called. Boy he was porn stash on Orange is the New Black. Yeah, his brother is leave leave Schreiber I think that's how you say it. You know the killer in scream. Yeah, that's the actor. This is his half-brother Okay, so he's also in Halo series Paramount did a couple years ago. I believe so So he's a photographer and his name is Richard Jones this first episode. We will meet detective Jack Harper. He's the sheriff. That's a main character Then we meet the wife slash reporter and Andrews the lady of the house. There's a lady in the house that is actually Detective Harper's sister
There's a sheriff trainee. Her name is Priya. There is a dead person. That is Rachel Hopkins. She's actually was Anna's friend from high school. A photographer is Richard Jones. And then Anna's mom is Miss Alice. Those are the people we'll meet in this episode. Okay, so episode one. Again, there's lots of spoilers in this. So if you have not watched it and you do not want spoilers, turn this off now.

A lady on the hood of a car with what looks like her neck slashed and convulsing. Like, it's kind of graphic. Yeah, she's still alive. Yeah, I think she's still alive. I think we backed that up. You didn't think she was. Well, yeah, I wasn't sure if she was alive. And also, I couldn't tell if it was, like, her throat was slashed, if she was stabbed. Like, I was like, what? I mean, I think she's dead, dying, whatever. Right. But definitely a great way to, like, start and pull you in. Yeah. I mean. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It knows what it's doing. Yeah. And then the next thing we see is someone entering their apartment or condo or something and taking a big swig of wine. Right. And then.
My thought was like, oh, is this who did it? Like, is this who killed this person? Yeah. And then she like kind of throws a bunch of papers. So I'm like, what are those papers about? Yeah. She threw a bunch of papers away, I think. Right. Yeah. And then she stormed out, didn't she? But yeah, but right in this era, this thing she said, like you could, it was, I don't know if she was actually saying it, if it was like kind of a voiceover, but it was her voice. Yeah. And this is a quote from it. And she said, there are at least two sides to every story, yours and mine, his and hers, which means someone is always lying. So I think there was possibly another part of that I might've missed.
which maybe we can, yeah, it's not a complete quote, I don't think, but so that's where the his and hers comes from, you know, so obviously, my first instinct was she had something to do with it. Yeah, for sure. And how she's acting. Yeah. But definitely the, the his and hers story is like where that title came from, you know, which is cool because, you know, people I talked to, they were like, oh, it's his and hers. I don't understand why it's called that, but then it makes more sense when you hear that anyway. For sure. Blah, blah, blah.
then it goes to like a house, right? And this guy's like getting his kids up, getting ready to go. He goes downstairs. Yeah, there's somebody in the kitchen who appears to be an alcoholic. And the guy at the time, which we know who it is now, it's the sheriff, but we didn't know then. I thought it was like husband and wife, you know? I couldn't really tell. I don't think you thought that. Yeah, I'm trying to remember how I felt. Like to me, it seemed like a husband and wife and the wife.
Didn't like the husband and maybe there was like a divorce or something going on close at all So maybe I thought well, they're strange or something's up or actually maybe I thought it was like a cleaning person I think I thought it was like an older daughter maybe but I'm not sure just how he was talking to her and She you know, he relies on her to pick up the kids and all that and she's really like one of our kids and doesn't do that Yeah, it's kind of weird. So then like the lady that's there is lost. She's lost soul right now You could say you think she's a lost soul. Well, she's having Issues with addiction and yeah, I think she's yeah, yeah, definitely and she says um, so she says to him Oh, you smell nice, which is is weird, you know, he thinks that's weird that she says that So at that point I was like hmm. I wonder he's a cop like, you know, I didn't know right Yeah, we didn't know what he did and then the lady the house was like well I could take the daughter to soccer or whatever it was but she's like Are you sure you don't you sure you don't want me to cancel or you want me to cancel with Batman or bars? She says
uh, I don't think I should cancel with Barbara. Right. So like maybe she had some kind of a therapy appointment or something. Oh yeah, probably. Or like, it just seemed like she needs something. Yeah. Right. Oh yeah. You know, I wasn't really sure. So it was kind of, you know, um, then the next thing comes up, we find out that he is the County Sheriff, um, and has what appears to be a trainee with him. Ms. Anders had trouble getting into her building and that came across as very, um, she came across as very nervous. Like when she's trying to get into her building.
Like her car, like her work car, like her work, her office building. Like remember she's trying to go to the office or whatever. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And she just seemed nervous and stuff. And like her card was expired and the security guard's like, oh, but your card expired last year. So obviously she's been gone for a long time from this office. Right. And that was kind of like, oh, what's going on? Everyone, everyone like is whispering like, oh, I'm surprised she's coming back and things like that. So like kind of thinking like, what, what is she doing? Why, you know, why are they like something happened? Yeah. You know.
Which obviously we find out later has happened to the Andrews here on IMDB. Okay, so I probably just had it wrong. Well, yeah, so then You know it comes up. She's having a discussion with her boss. He hired her job out She's like a head newscaster But like he gave her job to somebody else when she's gone apparently for a year It sounds like and there's headlines going on right now. Yeah about the girl right that we saw at the beginning of the show and then her
Her saving grace was saying she knew her because she did. Right. Yes. Because he wasn't going to give her anything. No. And he I think he was kind of like didn't want her to come back necessarily. Like, right. Because he said to her, I'm a parent and I can't imagine what you're going through. Yeah. And then you disappeared for a year. So, like, obviously something happened. Right. I think. Did we ever see actually here? Was it like her child died or something? It didn't really say how or where or what. Right. Right. Yeah. So. So that's why she's been gone. She's been.
dealing with the loss of her child. But she knows about the murder, the girl that was murdered on the car. And then she asked to be a field reporter on the story. Right, yep. She said that she knew it was a white lady and says it's because of the location. That's like how she knows because where it was at. But like, is that really how she knows? Or is there another reason?
Like, maybe because it's her friend and she killed her. I don't know if she did that. Right. I'm saying like the whole time I've gone back and forth with who, like how this lady died. Detective Harper. He wants to be the first one to tell the husband that the wife has been murdered. Yeah. Right. But he also wants the phone. Like if anybody finds the phone, it's supposed to come directly to him. Yes. Which is kind of strange. Right. Like, yes, he is the sheriff, but.
That's evidence, too. Well, isn't he also pissed off at the crime scene itself? Like a lot of the deputies were all over it. Possibly, yeah. Like it wasn't sealed off and stuff. And like the news crews and stuff, they could see what was going on. They weren't back that far. Right. So he's trying to get them to get back. He had his trainee go up there and try to conduct the press and have them go elsewhere. She's trying to get the crowd of reporters back up and stuff. And they're like, whatever. They're not listening to her because, you know, she's nobody or whatever. She doesn't have the confidence. Yeah. And Detective Harper. So he comes up and he basically tells them, you know, get back.
doing this whatever he did answer a couple questions but basically like no comment at this time and then andrews she was on the scene she was in the crowd her photographer was there already the photographer's like oh yeah the crime scene's not secure and um porn stash from orange is new black is who is who he is so then andrews asked harper so andrews is the reporter and harper is the sheriff just reminder that if it was true that he knew the victim when she asked him that he kind of just like wasn't happy Then Richard Jones is the photographer, right? So he is married to a rising star celebrity, Lexi Jones, who is the new news anchor that got the job that Andrews had before. And then Andrews is mocking him for being the less paid and lonely spouse.
Then Andrew seems to be flirting with Richard like at lunch and stuff they go to lunch or whatever and she seems to be flirting with him Yeah, for sure. Yeah, like with her talk for whatever. Yeah, right Yeah, she's I think she wants to get to that reporter like screw her up Yeah, I think so because they're the ones that had the interaction when she came to the building, right? They cross each other on the stairs. Yeah, yeah Yeah, and she's like, oh, yeah, like she was just kind of snarky I don't even remember what she said, but you know, she was like That's what I'm not gonna say it because that's like always take it out Yeah, like the typical blonde bimbo that you know got the job for her looks kind of thing, right? Yeah, I don't say that cuz you know I mean like I don't know you decide if we keep that just a typical good-looking Person who checks all the boxes a Barbie. I don't know Yeah, I mean she's not like a Barbie girl or whatever and that's probably not why she got the job But that's you know what some people would assume right? I mean that's the thing about like the whole news organization is They'll they'll cast their people even if they're not
Gifted yeah, like weather people like I think some Because they're look sometimes just for look because you are on live TV a lot or whatever and they do want Yeah, look at I mean makeup can only go so far. So well, yeah and technique, right? Yeah, you know personality proper stick up your ass and putting on a different face and your own all right, so So he's married to the rising star, right? So they're having lunch and she's flirting with him. And then the next scene, basically, it does move quick. They're at a hotel, I think. They might even have lunch at like a hotel. That's what I was thinking. Yeah, because it's in the town. Yeah, it does look kind of like a smallish town. Yeah, it's kind of like an inn or something. Yeah, it's like an inn, you know. So Richard and Andrews end up in a room doing it. Because he's sex deprived. Yeah, apparently. She pretty much talked him into having an affair. Did she talk him into it? Because it didn't seem like there was much talking. I'm just saying with her flirting and then going back and forth, I think it was like,
it was meant to be whatever yeah it might not even be his first affair who knows i mean i i feel like it might be an ongoing thing with those two because she specifically asked for that reporter or that you don't think that was the first time i don't think so maybe i mean i guess you guys that's a good point that's a good point tell us what you think but she did specifically ask for him to be her photographer didn't she i feel like she did maybe she did i can't remember yeah i almost have to like watch it again it's crazy the cop the sheriff he uh He interrupts them. He knocks on the door. Yeah, because he he knows she's there with somebody like he literally asked the front desk clerk like what room is she in? So he knew she was there. Yeah. So I'm assuming it's happened before. Maybe. Yeah, maybe on that. Because, yeah, you probably see a photographer in the background. So yeah, you knew like, oh, those two together. Not good. So yeah. So then he leaves and she comes out after that and like she sees his back walking away and then he they like communicate right a little bit. Somehow I can't remember like how they communicate. And he said when Richard asked who it was. That was my husband. I was like, yeah, literally I was like.
what what is this like mind freaking blown yeah like seriously well yeah because i thought he was just tracking her down because she was such a smart ass to embarrass him pretty much or called him out or like an ex-friend or something and be like yeah what are you doing yeah that's what i guess i thought was happening yeah so that was a huge like shock i was like oh god yeah wow that's a mess and like he can hear them having sex right and he's he's acting like oh my gosh this is embarrassing like do i or whatever and then when he interrupts them i'm like oh that's kind of weird like but obviously if it's husband then it's really like and obviously they're still married Under the law, I guess right but maybe estranged because oh, yeah, because it doesn't seem like it and perhaps maybe their marriage is already kind of rocky before Yeah, whatever it happened. Yeah, that Harper is running a background check on the photographer So then the next like then it cuts to actually this is all one day like a lot's happening discovery of the woman killed. Yep her job back him reuniting with her in a weird circumstance and then she goes to see her mom who's clearly got dementia or something like she goes to this house in the woods right and apparently has to check on her mom which the mom is so happy to see her like obviously you can tell she hasn't seen her in a while like it seems like um and then her name's the mom's name is miss alice um but she seems to have like dementia or alzheimer's or maybe a little bit of both there's something because then she asks her again or something like oh hi what are you doing here yeah and then jack jack shows up and he's you know she's happy to see him too uh but she doesn't act like she hasn't seen him in a while like it's not like
you know, oh, I'm so happy. It's good to see you. I think he's been, I think he's been checking on her while the wife has been, the daughter's been gone. Kind of been, yeah, MIA and writing your book if that's even true. Jack tells Anna who the victim is and, um, He talks about how he lost his job because he couldn't find her. Like she left and he was trying to find her and like took that took him away from his job. Remember? And so he lost his job and ended up coming back to their hometown. So apparently all that happened somewhere else. And this is like their hometown. Okay. To go back to her with all the papers in that apartment, that could just be like she had writer's block and a coincidence that, you know, the timing was doing that and it looked clearly like there's guilt. So maybe she was.
But maybe it wasn't anything to do with that. I mean, we're going to go back and forth. I've heard from other people. Oh, yeah. Because also, like, her apartment or condor or whatever, it looks like it was more, like, in a big city, you know? Yeah. But this definitely happened more in a small town. Right. So it's kind of hard to know, like... Right. Was she in a big city when she... A bigger city, you know? Uh-huh.
Or a suburb of, I don't know. I don't either, yeah. Because it definitely looked like a fancier place, right? Yeah, it was a high-rise. Right, but then there's an inn that looks like it's from a smaller town. Right, well, I mean, I got the impression she's probably, I don't know, 30 minutes or so. Yeah, so maybe she had to travel back home. Yeah, yeah, she did. You know, a ways or something. Yeah, that was clearly her and the city. Yeah. I don't recall the city they're in. It's not New York, that's for sure. I do know that they said because of where the murder was. Like, that's how she knew it was like a white girl or whatever. So that's another reason why I was thinking maybe it was like a small town.
But after, like, you know, he talks about losing his job and stuff because he couldn't find her and she left and everything. Okay. So then he leaves. Anna goes to, like, her childhood bedroom. Right. And she finds a dress hanging in the closet. And then, which she seemed to be, like, kind of, like, drawn to, I guess. Yeah. And then she finds what looks like an evidence box, which the box was full of tape recordings. Right. Oh, yeah. Yep. That's right. Like, I think from. Yeah. Like, maybe from there. Tapes. It wasn't. Was it? It was a video.
yes yeah it was like an old video old time in case you're really young children kids here watching old time video recorder yeah right so they're little tapes and so she was able to watch those and it was like from her younger days not necessarily child like i think her yourself was wearing that outfit or something like that yeah it was filmed in her room i believe well yeah yeah her and her friends and then that That victim was in there. Yeah, it turns out. Yes, the victim. So you definitely established how close they were. I didn't mean to say first victim, but apparently I do know this, that there's more than one. What? You don't have to. You can cut that out. Spoiler. Cut that out for sure. Yeah, I found that out the other night at Bowling. I was like, they're like, oh, and they found the second body. And I was like, wait, what was stop? Stop. I haven't heard this. So yeah, anyway. Okay, so then Anna starts watching all the old video footage that was in the box from her old camera. Meanwhile, Jack went to the morgue where he found out that the victim had been stabbed 40 times. No defensive wounds. There's also fresh semen.
I was found in the victim. And then her fingernails had been cut back super short, like past where they should be. Not the cuticle because the cuticle is at the top. But the quick. So like I had never heard of it called a quick on a human. I've only heard of it called a quick on animals. But apparently if you cut your nails back, I have fake nails, guys. It's fine. They're fake. But past where they start growing out, that's called the quick. And they've been cut back that far. And I don't know.
Why? Well, yeah, well, probably if she scratched. Oh, that's true. You're so smart. I wasn't even thinking about the DNA that would have been under there. But whoever had sex with her obviously wasn't thinking about the DNA that he left inside of her. Right. You know, they were separate people.
that's true okay so then um also the weirdest grossest part is the coroner finds a friendship bracelet in the mouth of the victim yeah at the same time that anna finds the same type of friendship bracelet in her box of evidence she's or you know memories she's going through so that's interesting yeah so apparently so obviously they're connected somehow right which we've kind of figured out i mean so the victim's husband um has not reported the wife missing He does not answer the door either. So they said they'd come back in the morning to see him. Right? Yeah. So then we end the last final scene. We end up with Jack having sex with Rachel, the victim, in his truck. So that makes sense why he doesn't want to give a DNA sample. I forgot about that. Yeah, he didn't want to give a DNA sample that day. He said he'd do it tomorrow. Yeah, but I was like, that's a red flag. Like, what the hell? So, yeah, so he was having sex with the victim before she died. Well, and the reveal is kind of...
tricky to interpret like she's because the wife she's like it's like is she envisioning but she's watching it happen yeah so it's like was she there or is it just very like trippy like she's just I know her imagination is running wild and maybe that didn't even happen like it kind of yeah right true it kind of makes me think so she's like watching him in his truck having sex with the victim right and the victim's car is up ahead right with the lights on in front of the truck so it makes me think Like, obviously, I don't know what happens because this is the first episode, but it makes me think that she saw that happen. She was revengeful. Like, that's my husband, even though we're not together and I'm sleeping with whoever. Right. Or maybe that's why she went and had sex with the photographer. So it might not be the first time. Yeah. But she sees that and then she's the one, you know, 40, getting stabbed 40 times. That's very personal in my head. Yeah. You know? So did she kill? She listened to a lot of true crime. I listened to true crime, guys. I love true crime. She knows it's personal. I mean, I love the stories behind it and how and why and whatever. I don't love true crime. Please don't hurt anybody. That's not what I mean.
Um, but okay, so I said that, okay, so he doesn't want to get the DNA sample to the corner. Yeah. Also, Anna's watching them doing it. She's in the, but she's in the outfit she was in for the opening scene. Right. When she goes to her and is like all mad. So she could have just seen it, got pissed. And then, you know. Right.
