What are you afraid of? – Mark Chapter 5

Mark 5 actually begins in Mark 4:35-41 with the disciples caught in a storm. From there a series of episodes put us in the midst of several different circumstances that most people would find fearful. Do you fear the possibility of a natural disaster like an earthquake or fire? Would you have a knot in your gut if you came face-to-face with someone who is obviously demon-possessed? Have you ever feared a cancer diagnosis or coming down with Covid? This past year has certainly showed us how much people are willing to give up to try and stay safe when we believe we have something to fear. Some things should be feared, but what should we do with fear? How does faith change what we fear or how we fear? And how can we have peace in the midst of genuinely fearful circumstances?
