What Are You Looking For?
from Between Bread and Stone Hosted by Stephen R. Brewer, PsyD
This week’s Gospel opens with John the Baptist pointing at Jesus and saying, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” and with Jesus asking his first followers, “What are you looking for?” Episode 31 of Between Bread and Stone sits with those two lines and presses on the difference between the Lamb of God and the gods of fear, control, and Christian nationalism. The episode names Christian nationalism as antichrist while honoring the faith of ordinary Christians who are trying to live in the way of Jesus. It is a reflection on desire, allegiance, and where Jesus is actually “staying” in our moment. You are welcome here, whether you are exhausted by the Church, still committed to it, or standing at a distance trying to make sense of it all. You are welcome here.
