Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl And you are tuned in to try it's the quickest way to find out what's trending today This weekend is starting off with some great celebrations. I want to tell you about three of them.
Let's get started on today's episode I'm going to be covering three different holidays that are gonna be happening within the next two days the first one is ugly sweater day, which is tomorrow Friday and It's amazing because ugly sweater day hasn't always been a thing But ugly sweaters have always been around. We all know it now It depends on your own personal taste and style that you may see a sweater and think it is absolutely gorgeous But the person next to you is kind of like oh, how would they put that on that is that is so ugly So if you go back to the year 2002 that was when the first ugly sweater party was held as far as we all know and It was in Vancouver, Canada Some friends decided to throw an ugly sweater party to help raise money It was a fundraiser for a friend of theirs who was going through cancer treatment I can only imagine how much fun that very first ugly sweater party must have been because I can just imagine What the sweaters look like they were probably hideous But so you know since then ugly sweater parties have been happening all over the place But they seem to be all centered around the holiday time and I think it's because of holiday decorations They're all over the place and some people are really good about putting up nice decorations And there's a theme it's all it comes together It looks good and then other people just like Christmas threw up on their house on their tree And in some cases on their sweater And so you've got these ugly sweaters now I don't know that I like the fact that it's become commercialized where people are selling ugly sweaters now There are ugly sweater merchants and their whole thing is they want to sell you an ugly sweater When the ugliest sweaters of them all are the ones that you make at home yourselves Take the time go to goodwill and find a decent sweater you know one that fits at least and Just let your imagination go wild imagine in your head if Christmas were to throw up on your sweater What would that look like and there you have it you have an amazingly ugly sweater Whether it's got Christmas bulbs and tinsel and garland and all everything all over it or you know anything like that Honestly, I believe that the ones that you make yourself are the absolute ugliest and the best The next day which is Saturday is National baked cookies day. I love national baked cookies day But I think national baked cookies day does not have to take place this coming Saturday It can take place any day of the week of the year any time It doesn't matter I think the best times would be when you have people coming to visit if you got grandma or aunties and uncles If you have people come in to visit you bake some cookies with them You will be blown away by how much fun it's gonna be how many memories you're gonna make and just the the cool vibes of Making the cookies and then that feeling of accomplishment when the timer goes off And it's time to pull those cookies out of the oven and taste the first bite of the delicious cookies that you made with Whoever that special person is now There is no rule that says it has to be cookie dough that you made from scratch So you can go ahead and go to the grocery store and scratch on that door or the handle to whatever the freezer section is and get some cookie dough from there Take your knife when you get home and you slice that bad boy up into cookies put it on your cooking sheet cookie sheet and Put it in the oven. There is nothing that says it has to be cookies made from scratch now if you're making them from scratch You're gonna have a little bit more Interaction because you're gonna have to measure out stuff and there'll be more talking more interaction and therefore you could probably get a few more Special moments out of cookie dough that was made from scratch, but there's no rule on that So like I said grandparents get your grandbabies and bake some cookies with them aunties You do the same thing uncles you are not exempt from this the only people that say that men can't cook are women But then you can do it if you actually put your mind to it And once again if you don't want to make cookies from scratch You don't have to go get some cookie dough from the store and make some cookies with the people that you love Last but definitely not least is also on Saturday and it's national wreaths across American day now This is the day that we remember our fallen veterans We honor those who serve and we teach our children the value of freedom now what happens on this day There's wreath laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 2,500 additional locations across the entire United States all 50 states at sea as well as abroad Now if you want to know more about national wreaths across America day, you can go check out their website That's national wreaths across America org.
That's wreaths I feel like I say that word funny wreaths across America You can also find them on Twitter at wreaths across that's at w-r-e-a-t-h-s-a-c-r-o-s-s And you can find out they have Lessons that you can use like literal like curriculum to help teach young people They have calendars and information on the various things that are going on in different places across the country So if you want to get involved and try to do something special for that day Then by all means check them out their website again is national wreaths across America Or you can also find them on Twitter at wreaths across and of course their website is there if you need some direct access Thank you so much for joining me on today's episode now if you are completely bored this weekend guess what you can put together a Virtual ugly sweater party and hey it has nothing to do with the holidays nothing to do with Christmas and ugly sweater is an ugly sweater So get your friends together It doesn't take long get people on a zoom right why not and then if you do that hey You can still bake some cookies if you decide not to do that then choose to bake cookies instead find somebody that you love You can even do that virtually seriously you can I've done it last but not least if nothing else consider going to the wreaths across America website and donating towards a wreath Simple as that I think it's a worthwhile cause People have gone before us and they've paved the way for freedom and that's the least we can do to show our honor and respect for what they've done Okay, well before I go I want to send a special shout out to my husband whose birthday is on the 18th happy birthday, baby I hope you have an awesome birthday and Yeah, I can't wait to see your face when you hear this All right, I hope you guys have a great weekend and I will see you guys back here again on Tuesday. All right. Take care. Bye
