What did you learn from travelling as a kid?

For the second year in a row, Edmonton Public Schools has cancelled all international trips. The board says it's because of "...ongoing political, economic and public health challenges around the world". The public board in Calgary IS doing trips this year, after cancelling them last year. Today, we want to hear what value you think there is in leaving the country when you're young. Did you go on a trip that changed your life?
