What Do I Do When God Seems Silent?

In the gospels, God spoke through His Son, Jesus. (John 1:1, 14; 14:9-10) Today, God speaks to us by His Holy Spirit, revealing Himself, His purposes and His ways. Through the Scriptures. Through prayer. Through life circumstances. Through the church (true followers of Christ).   When God SEEMS Silent . . . Even when God seems silent, His nearness is loud. "The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth . . .He also hears their cry and saves them."  Psalm 145:18,19 "But You are near, O Lord, and all Your commandments are true."  Psalm 119:151   In silent moments, stay close. Our hearing dulls the further we wander. Anchor your heart and mind to the Word of God.   In silent moments, evaluate your heart. (Psalm 139:23; Jeremiah 17:9,10) Unconfessed sin and misplaced affections often captivate your attention and distract you from hearing.   In silent moments, don't trust how you feel but hold on to what you know is true. Don't let truth be sacrificed on the altar of your feelings.   In silent moments wait on God. As a follower of Christ, the Spirit of God in you always affirms the voice of God. "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."  John 10:27
