What Do I Do With All My Stuff?

from The World Wanderers Podcast · host Amanda Kingsmith and Ryan Ferguson

One of the most common questions we are asked when people find out that we’ve spent so long traveling is, what did you do with all your stuff? Possessions are one of the most common reasons people don’t go traveling. I don’t want to give up my apartment, I wouldn’t know what to do with my house, with my car, etc. The things that we purchase to enrich our lives end up trapping us from making positive changes. So when you are considering a long-term trip, what should you do with all your stuff? We share our story of renting storage units, moving out of apartments, selling everything, selling cars, holding garage sales, and interacting with creepy people on craigslist. Covered in this episode: Our story of moving four times in five years What to consider when you are debating selling vs. storing Best ways to sell things online Why you shouldn’t have a garage sale How to think about what you want to keep The emotional freedom of minimalism The hidden costs of storing your car Also make sure to check out our episodes with Jake Desyllas on our “The Path to Permanent Travel” episode where we discuss minimalism and objects with sentimental value, and our Sell All Your Stuff Episode with Al and Shelly McCullough ———— If you are learning or interested in learning a language make sure to check out the two for one special with show sponsor italki.com Check us out on Patreon.
