Kelly was born into the world of entertainment. Her mother was a dancer who travelled the world to perform. Having moved to the DC area she took over a children’s company and Kelly became the stage child . she witnessed performances and would often be used as the subject during rehearsals. The reality of being a performer was never hidden from Kelly, and whilst there are good times there are also a significant number of low times. Work is not guaranteed. Kelly sings musical theatre and opera and recently concluded a 2 year stint playing Carlota in Andrew Lloyd Webbers Phantom of The Opera!Kelly exposes the fact that the world of Opera has some issues. As an example “Pay To Sing” is a program where the performer will pay to be in the cast of a production! On one occasion she was asked to take part by the company and when she agreed they told her it would cost her $5000. She also explains that performers have to pay to audition!Manassas Virginia is Kelly's home in the USA. Aged 8 Kelly was able to join the choir at 16 she performed in an opera in Italy . She recalls the conductor ranting at her in Italian because she upstaged the leads.Kelly's audition for phantom was extended and her final audition was in front of impresario Cameron Mackintosh.During this interview she expressed a desire to play Nancy in Oliver.
