from America's Healthcare Advocate

How do you find out where they should go? What’s the best fit? How do you evaluate?Today on the show Cary Hall and Senior Care Consultant Steve Kuker answer those questions and cover related topics like:Once you get into your eighties, you become frailer and it takes something very minor to make a major change in your lifestyle. It could be a fall, an illness that you just don't fully recover from and suddenly you need a lot more help than two months ago or maybe even last week. The change can come on very quickly when you have to say, okay, now that I'm not fully independent, I need some help. Can I remain independent in my home? And if so, what does that look like?Should I “age in place” and remodel the bathroom, get rid of the bathtub, and put in a walk-in tub or a zero-entry shower where someone can wheel me in on a shower chair?Another thing is what if you need personal care? Now we're looking at bringing in a home care company with non-medical, in-home assistance to help you on an hourly basis. And unfortunately, if you need help at least three days out of that seven for 3 hours for the laundry, clothing, food, and maybe help with bathing, shaving, whatever the case may be. You're looking at $300 a week, $1200 a month and that's minimal help and that may be just enough to help you stay home and avoid having to move somewhere more expensive, like $6000, $8000 to $9000 for assisted living per month, $9000 to about $15,000 a month to live in long term care, which is also known as a nursing home.If you need help, and this is only one scenario, Steve Kuker is a trusted specialist, a friend, and offers a service to can help you through this process when you need him.
