This passage offers two stories tied together by one question from Jesus, "What do you want me to do for you?" As we respond to Jesus, what do we want to ask from him? Will we be like the disciples, who demand that Jesus conform to their expectations? Or will we be like Bartimaeus who asks Jesus to help him see clearly? What do you want Jesus to do for you?
