What does discipleship actually look like?

from Reflections from Richmond Uniting · host Richmond Uniting Church

Online worship for 2 February 2021 This week in worship the readings are Psalm 147.1-11 and Mark 1.29-39. Rev Dr Sally Douglas invites us to dive into Mark's Gospel, where we discover a very different understanding of discipleship. Rather than ‘leaving everything’, in Mark’s Gospel we find the reverse - the disciples invite Jesus into the mess, joy and sorrow of their family and home. Jesus responds in compassion and an unnamed woman models the truth about discipleship. If you would like to connect with the Richmond Uniting Church community in other ways as well as audio worship, for example for Midday Prayers or Zoom ‘morning teas’, or a theology group discussion, please email [email protected].
