What Does It Mean To Be a Christian?

If you’ve been a Christian for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard someone say this: “I don’t understand how someone who calls themselves a Christian could do that … agree with that … say that.” We all have an idea of what following Jesus should look like, but our views are often shaped by our circumstances and the opinions of others. If we were to strip away outside influences, what would a follower of Jesus actually look like? Today, let’s explore three Bible passages and discover what it means to be a follower of Jesus. 1st Love God MATTHEW 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” 2nd Love Others 1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-8 "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends." 3rd Make Disciples MATTHEW 28:18-20 “All authority in heaven and earth has been give n to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of every nation.
