What does it mean to serve the Lord? In Joshua 24, Joshua calls Israel to make a decisive commitment to Yahweh, warning them against divided loyalties and calling them to serve the Lord with sincerity and faithfulness. Serving God begins with recognizing Jesus Christ as Lord, submitting to His authority, turning from sin, and giving Him the allegiance that belongs to Him alone. Following Jesus also means learning from Him as Teacher, following Him as Shepherd, serving Him as Master, and reflecting His servant-hearted example. Christian service extends to serving God's people with the gifts He has given, while maintaining an attitude of reverence, faithfulness, zeal, and gladness.
