what does it really mean to be saved?

Episode 1 of this Salvation Series starts with getting to really know what salvation is, what Jesus went through to make salvation possible for us and what changes as we receive that gift. Below are excerpts from a book by Pst. Faith Oyedepo titled, 'Salvation, The Way of Escape'. "The only prayer of sinners that gets to God is their prayer for forgiveness of sin...Oh God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your Word in Acts 2:21 says that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. I am calling on you now, I know I am a sinner. Be merciful to me, a sinner.I believe that Jesus Christ was my substitute when He died on the cross. I believe that His shed blood, death, burial, resurrection and ascension were for me. Now, I consciously and deliberately receive and confess Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour. Jesus, come into my heart now!Heavenly Father, I thank You for the forgiveness of sins. I receive the gift of salvation and everlasting life. Now I know that I am born again. I am saved. I am a new creature in Christ. I and a Christian. I am a child of God. Thank You Father, in Jesus' name! Amen."
