TRANSCRIPT · AUTO-GENERATED

Hello and Happy Saturday morning to you all. Today's podcast episode is a recording of one of the articles that I wrote in response to a 30 day writing challenge in one of the sub- publications of Medium.com. Today is Day 20 and as I mentioned in my previous episodes, they give in the prompt, they give you one question and you answer the question. However, you can.

You have the option to change or create your own title and your own subtitle. Sometimes I quote the prompt, the question mentioned in the prompt and sometimes even the editor is put it in the top, you know, before the title is so they put it. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes I don't.

So anyway, let's go with the title that I gave and as I'm going to read that aloud, I'm going to even wonder, oh, this is what I wrote in September in response to this prompt. Okay, let's go. The title is, what does success mean to you? And the subtitle is asking yourself this question can be empowering.

What's the personal development enthusiast? I love motivational quotes and how I wish today's prompt mentioned quotes instead of quote. What does success mean to you? I think the question was something about, you know, give one quote that inspired you in your life or something like that.

Okay. Anyway, let me stick to the requirement. So here you go. That's the prompt guys.

Okay, find a motivational quote and write about it. Find the motivational quote and write about it. Now, you know what? I thought why don't they give me quotes?

Okay, this is what the prompt said, but you know what? I'm choosing to add. I'm choosing to give extra credit to myself and also extra credit to the readers. All right, so find a motivational quote and write about it.

Jim Rohn, my first personal development guru, always interviewed me with his speeches and powerful quotes. He came across to me as very, very strong, courageous, tough, often tough love kind of granddaddy. I grew up with absolutely no grandparents. So I could see as, you know, objectively he's as a granddaddy to me, seeing my daddy, my father, whom I lost very early in my life, 13, 12, 13 and during that transition.

And I could see that in, in Jim Rohn. All right. So once again, Jim Rohn, my first personal development guru, always interviewed me with his speeches and powerful quotes. Each of his quotes would contribute to the betterment of my personal and professional life.

Today, I'm choosing the following motivational quote to answer the prompt and what is it? Okay, I used to say from quote from Jim Rohn. I used to say, I sure hope things will change. Then I learned that the only way things are going to change for me is when I change.

That's my Jim Rohn. This is a very powerful quote for me. It really empowered me. In what way does it offer encouragement for you?

That is the next question of the prompt. As a victim of downsizing and unemployment, it is very hard to accept the above quote, right? What does it say for things to change, you change. Okay.

Now, as I have told in my, some of my previous episodes, moving internationally and moving internationally for me was a big challenge. It was not my motivation, guys. I didn't move. I appealed my husband.

Yes, a part of me, which is very devoted to my family. Yes, a responsible part of Lalita wanted to do it, do it to the best of my ability. But then there is a part of me which grew my career for 17 years in banking from a clinical to office to manager despite other challenges and despite learning from living in a joint family, so many things that was growing, there was development, there was challenges, uphill, downhill, valley, what is that? Crestland Truff, valley and peak, everything was there, right?

So I had to let go of that and then come into this. So that's where I say, as a victim of downsizing and unemployment, it was very hard to accept the above quote, but eventually it became the truth for me. How did I change? How did I change?

I stopped spending too much time on what is going on outside the company politics or complaining about the economy. I started reading more books, listening to the audio and watching videos related to personal development, goal setting and holistic living. I explored self-employment, a big change and was ready to accept failures as learning lessons. I started exercising regularly.

I started a small but consistent charity giving plan, giving a certain amount of time or giving a certain amount of money or giving a certain amount of effort without expecting anything in return. I enrolled in life and business coaching programs without expecting any returns. Sometimes I invested big money. Hey, I have invested in my mind, my thinking, my feeling, my behavior, right?

My body, my mind, my emotions, right? Okay, I learned to handle disappointments by turning them into learning opportunities. I started doing meditation, yoga, affirmations and learning new slokers or hymns. You might wonder and say, they are just normal things, not a big deal and I agree with you.

For me, it meant success on my own terms. I would summarize and end with yet another powerful quote from Jim Rohn, success is nothing, nothing, but success is nothing, more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day while failure is simply a few errors in judgment repeated every day. It is the cumulative weight of the disciplines and our judgments that lead us to either fortune or failure. So Jim Rohn helped me in first of all becoming aware, what are my disciplines and what are my judgments?

He helped me, he helped me put in new discipline, new like exercising, yoga, meditation, self-doubt, personal development, professional development and then go into that small, small, small, small action steps repeated over the table. He helped me also figure out where am I earning, where am I making mistakes in just judging, right? And judging so that I'm making less mistakes to the best of my knowledge and to the best of my ability and focusing on creating discipline, towards achieving my goal, towards becoming a better version of myself, towards becoming a better individual and better embodied sound. So guys, and then I gave a link to another article of mine or another episode of podcast episode.
