What Forgiveness Really Does for You

We all carry a debt we cannot pay. Sin has left us with an impossible debt, one that no amount of good works, money, or effort could ever erase. Yet the good news of the Gospel is that Jesus was moved with compassion and paid our debt in full through the cross. Because we have been forgiven, Jesus calls us to forgive others. That can be difficult when the hurt is deep and the wounds are still fresh. Holding onto anger, resentment, and the desire for revenge can keep us trapped in the pain of yesterday. But forgiveness allows us to release that debt into God’s hands and find freedom from the past. Forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt never happened or returning to an unsafe relationship. It means choosing to let go because God has forgiven us. When we understand the mercy we have received from Jesus, we can begin to extend that same mercy to others. Subscribe to Our Channel!
