What happened to the first female TOP GUN?

from Acid Cat Spirit Hour · host Acid Cat

On October 26th, 1944, Gertrude "Tommy" Tompkins would take off in her  P-51 Mustang from an airfield in Los Angeles, never to be seen again. No  trace of her or her plane have been found, despite centuries of  searching. Tommy was a phenom behind the stick, could she have crashed?  Or were her talents drafted by the deepstate to aid in experimental  aircraft design? Was she present during the infamous Battle of Los  Angeles, and did it have an effect on her departure two years later?  Maybe she resolved her broken heart over a lost love, and flew off into  the sunset. We talk about it all today, so join us y'all!
