What Happens When The People Loose faith in Their Government - It Doesn't End Well.
from Ramblings of an Old fart. -
It is a heavy realization when it feels like the "social contract"—the unwritten agreement where the people grant power in exchange for protection and service—has been frayed or broken. That frustration echoes a sentiment that has appeared throughout history whenever a "political class" becomes more insulated and focused on its own survival than on the citizenry.By the late 1800s, the U.S. looked very much like what’re seeing now. Political "machines" (like Tammany Hall) controlled everything. Parties were so powerful that they chose candidates in "smoke-filled rooms," and the average voter felt like a spectator. When the people realized the political class was purely self-serving, they didn't just complain; they changed the mechanics of the system:Now It's our time, are we going to let the system take us down with it, or are we going fight back like Americans did in the late 1800's-early 1900's. They gave us the Primary Election, taking it away from party bosses in some backroom somewhere. They gave us the 17th Amendment which allows us the citizens to vote for and elect our senators, thing that bacj=k fro the state legislature. In this podcast I report on the problem bi=ut also on things people are doing to take our st=ystem back. But they are going yo need our help.
