Sanctification is not a magic drink that stops temptation. It’s God’s ongoing work in real people with real consciences, training us to fight what we now hate, even while we still live in frail bodies that don’t always cooperate with the desires of a renewed heart. We spend time in Romans 7 and the daily conflict Paul describes: freed from sin as a reigning master, but not yet freed from sin as an indwelling enemy.
