What If I Told You That No One Actually Cares?

from Being Aloud · host Bee Bishay

Send us Fan MailAbout two years ago my whole life changed when i got married to the wrong person, was harassed at the airport and became the topic of national debate, and then got divorced as a young Christian Egyptian. Life as i knew it was uprooted and i had to reinvent my own definitions of good and normal and healthy and…even just okay. Because everyone around me seemed to have a different opinion on how they thought any given one of my unfortunate events should have unfolded. but after listening to good advice and filtering through A LOT of bad advice, i needed to, well…stop caring about what other people thought and simply do what was right for myself. The thought of people caring and judging and criticising has kept me from doing so many things i’d been dying to do. Such as starting this podcast! Also such as speaking into the camera on instagram or writing poetry or sharing my paintings or sharing my workouts or speaking my mind. And i think there seems to constantly be an invisible, very critical audience sitting somewhere in the back criticising and judging most people who feel a creative urge of any kind. As with most (if not all) of the conversations we’ve had on the Being Aloud podcast, i know i’m not the only one. But what if i told you that no one really cares the way we think they do? What if i told you that the judgmental critic lives only in our heads, and not in the real world? How would your life change? How would your choices and decisions change? I have only my own experience to draw from, and im here to tell you there’s nothing quite as freeing as letting that stuff go!Today’s conversation is the pep talk i needed five years ago (at least).Mentioned in the episode:Why People Don't Care As Much As You Think They DoSupport the showIf you like this podcast, please leave a review, like, share, and subscribe.
