What if it wasn’t so serious with Tim Day

from Nine to Thrive: The Well-Being Podcast · host Julie Fischer

In this episode, Conscious Leadership coach Tim Day and I explore the complexities of human experience and how those complexities impact every relationship we have, especially the one with ourselves. We are living in a world where the need to be “right” is more powerful than our desire to be in relationship with people we love and care for, to be happy or to be at peace. Why is this?  There are a lot of reasons that we explore in this episode…the biggest one being that we are wired to detect threats and there are so many things that feel threatening to us on a daily basis!  We talk about the power of awareness and self-compassion, the transformative nature of curiosity, what it means to loosen the grip of threat (literally one breath at a time) and how to cultivate a loving relationship with all of the parts of ourselves so that we can better co-create more loving relationships with others. Here are some of my favorite takeaways: We often prioritize being right over being in relationship. Curiosity can help to shift feelings of threat. Our families of origin shape so many of our emotional responses. Every experience we have shapes the lens with which we see the world. Recognizing our own fears is an essential part of improving our relationship with ourselves and others. Active listening fosters understanding and connection. We all have a deep desire to be seen and heard. Embracing our messiness and magnificence as part of being human experience transforms us and every relationship we have.   Bring your curiosity and enjoy this episode!   Thank you for listening.
