What If The Voice You Ignore Is Your Own | Ep 349

from Voices for Voices® · host Founder of Voices for Voices®, Justin Alan Hayes

What If The Voice You Ignore Is Your Own | Ep 349Ever had that jolt where impatience flips from frustration into focus? We lean into that pivot and unpack how a mirror moment, a surge of energy, and a swarm of doubts can become the raw materials for real change. Instead of glossing over the mess, we walk through the heat—naming the pressure, questioning the thrill, and translating a chaotic rush into practical momentum you can use today. We start with the blunt stuff: mortality, self-scrutiny, and the uneasy quiet of staring yourself down. From there, we track the feeling that rises in your chest when you stop waiting for perfect conditions and start moving through imperfect ones. The language is vivid for a reason—vultures, stones, flames—because growth doesn’t happen in soft light. It happens when you sort voices, cut the noise, and decide which story gets to live in your head. Along the way, we break down how impatience can be a compass, why “entertaining” sometimes means fully alive, and how repetition turns reflection into a skill instead of a spiral.By the end, you’ll have a framework for turning pressure into power: face the mirror without flinching, strip out feedback that never cared, and build with the pieces you already hold. This is a grounded take on resilience, not a highlight reel—no grand hacks, just habits that compound. If you’re circling the edge of a big move, consider this your nudge to step. This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
