What If You Only Had 47 Days Left?

What if You Only Had Forty-Seven Days Left? "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him. And he will eat with me." Revelation 3:20 ICB  "For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:8 HCSB  "I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security)." John 10:9 AMP After today is over, the students in my 7th & 8th Grade classes only have 47 days left in this school year. In only 47 days they'll walk out of the front door of the school. A return is never guaranteed. To see people you know again is never guaranteed. HBU? What if you only had 47 days left or even less? Your opportunity to leave a favorable first impression may have long passed. How you've treated your neighbors, friends, employers, employees, adversaries, classmates, teachers and staff - is how they'll remember you. There's only 47 days to leave a favorable impression- lasting impression. What will folks say of you - years from now, as they look back on these last days? Will they fondly remember you as a kind, helpful and humble soul? At the mention of your name will the word "selfish" come to mind. Let's chew on the number 47 as a snack with Hebrew definitions as our ingredients. The number four in Hebrew is the word, "dalet" and means "open door" and is sometimes referred to as the "poor man (poor in spirit or humble and contrite,) ready to receive. The number seven in Hebrew is the word, "shevah" which means "completion of the cycle or fullness." Today you have before you an open door to complete this day in the fullness of humility. Will you be remembered as one who was teachable, humble, encouraging and willing to help when the need arose? Will you arise to the occasion of the 47 day clarion call? It would be wise to begin your next minute by opening the door of your heart to Jesus. Ask Him how to best treat other people. We take Communion in remembrance of Him. We can love others in remembrance of Him as well and others may remember us as well by living as good neighbors and sharing Christ as the way of loving well. Thanks for your time.
