What is a life hack? This is a day to serve his blood gas with Anthony van Nienen. Well, what is life? That eventful space between birth and death.
Another one, two periods separated by death, from a Christian perspective, right? You've got the mortal and the eternal life. Another one, that quality that distinguishes us from, inorganic matter, do you remember this? Such as capacity for growth, rep, productivity or any sort of activity, life.
Well, what about hack? There must be, it answers this question, there must be a better way. A hack is a way of going around regular or normal protocols, right, to get things done, to access something, to accomplish some end. A better way of doing things and managing one's time and energy to achieve goals.
But beyond just doing things better, it's also figuring out the deeper wise behind what we do. What is a life hack? It's what you need when you ask the question, is this all? There is to my mortal life.
At the age of about 10, I wrote this poem. Same old question, same old why. Shall this go on? Shall this pass by?
Shall I live to answer this question of mine? Or shall I die before I answer this question? Why? I must have been going through a difficult time in my life then.
And I was precisely looking for a life hack. Aren't we so thankful for the people we've had a chance to run to, right, to pour out our hearts, spill out our brains, just seeking laboring, trying to figure something out. And then they just listen and say one thing, just one thing, and it makes me feel like, why did I get that? Like when I said in Glass, God bless his soul, told me, Anthony, you're talking so much about people's differences.
How can you unify them with that? You think of one thing that you have in common, and make that your platform for change, and you will win. Wow, that was just before an election that I did win. You were wrong from the beginning.
I wasn't asking the right question. Or when I was struggling helping this organization in one institution, educational institution, this organization to survive it, and my dad blessed his soul too. Ask me, how long have you been trying to revive this organization? Dad, a number of years, and it's barely breathing.
Okay, a number of years. Well, what should I do that? Triple, let it die. Dad, I'm here to make it live, are you?
Let it die. And he spoke of his organization, wrote me and said, every day hundreds of rotary chapters die, but even more so live. If it hasn't been performing, if it hasn't been living, then let it die. And someday when someone will take the ownership and responsibility to revive it again, then you can support it, and you can bring it back to life.
The concern for you and me could be a clear and present danger. Or it could just be over the meaning of life, of life itself. What in your life or about your life would you like to change? Would you like to hack?
Or perhaps you are hoping to change and hack the entirety of your life today. It is sobering. Now, take the opportunity to face the reality of our lives and to decide if indeed a better way or why is needed to make it worthwhile. Tomorrow, we'll look at what are the possible hacks you need to consider in your life, my friend.
For now, open my mind and my heart. Looking forward. Let's hack this.
