What Is a True Prophet?

from Habakkuk · host Rev. Charles G. Dennison

Biblical prophets and pagan prophets share a vocabulary but nothing else, the ecstatic utterances of the nations bearing no real resemblance to God's own word through Habakkuk and Jeremiah. Only the biblical prophets speak truly, not because of their technique but because of who sends them. Christ himself is the prophet every other prophet only anticipates.
