What Is Faith?

Faith isn’t a belief issue but a relational issue. In Hebrews 11:1, NIV, we read what faith is: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Faith is not being positive or having a good attitude. Instead, faith is knowing God is trustworthy and who He says He is! We acquire faith not merely by asking for more faith, but instead directing the mustard seed of faith we do have toward God. A little faith toward God can move mountains. We read this invitation in Mark 11:22, NIV, which says: “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.” Everyone has a measure of faith. It is simply our responsibility to put that faith in God. A guaranteed faith failure would be putting our faith in anything besides God. Our faith needs to bring us into the promises of God.
