What is Femmephobia? With Dr. Karen Blair, Dr. Rhea Ashley Hoskin, And Bre O'Handley

from Mind Full: The Canadian Psychological Association podcast · host Canadian Psychological Association

I interviewed Dr. Karen Blair, Dr. Rhea Ashley Hoskin, and Bre O'Handley for a Psychology Month profile back in December. During the discussion, a word I'd never heard before came up - Femmephobia. How common is it? Who experiences it? It turns out the answers are - common enough to be literally everywhere, and everyone experiences it! Dr. Blair, Dr. Hoskin, and Bre represent the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity section (SOGI) of the CPA. We also spoke about a little civil rights history - the fight for marriage equality and the more recent effort to ban conversion therapy. And we talked to Bre about her research into how LGBTQ+ people are coping during the pandemic.
