What is Human Nature? Ft. Valentine Roland Ssebuyungo

from Big Questions No Answers · host Sam Vila

This week I sat down with one of the most introspective humans I've had the pleasure of talking to, Valentine Roland Ssebuyungo. Originally from Uganda, He's currently working while studying engineering at UBC and has found passions in philosophy and psychology. Our conversation focused on one of the biggest of topics, human nature, whether it exists, how it's commonly defined and how we defined it for ourselves. We meandered into all kinds of topics but mainly focused on how we treat ourselves. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Saurav Saha for producing the intro and outro song I'll use for the podcast going forward. 0:0:00 Intro Song (Prod. by Saurav Saha) 0:1:57 The Big Question 0:10:57 Pushing each other forward 21:05 Does everyone need mushrooms? 31:30 Neurosis and Human Growth 44:30 The Role of Negative Emotions 55:00 Tricking ourselves 1:05:00 The Tests we face 1:16:00 Don’t Focus on the Should 1:23:00 Closing Remarks
