What is LEGACY? Revisiting why I started Legacy Voyage... | Ep 77
from Legacy Voyage · host Dean Uata
After 15 months and 76 episodes of Legacy Voyage, it’s about time to answer the question: what is legacy? Here's what I think: legacy is what you do before you leave and what others take away after you’re gone. 9 Musings About Legacy Legacy is inevitable - I’m leaving a legacy whether I like it or not — and guess what? You are too! Legacy is impact - Ask yourself this: how different would the world be (whether for good or bad) if you never existed? It gives you an estimate of the legacy you’re building. Legacy is tiered - There are different levels of legacy: your legacy with a certain person, a group of people, or even the entire world. Legacy is subjective - People can have polarizing views on the same person’s legacy. Don’t believe me? Look at Jesus. Some people love him, others hate him. Legacy is selfish - I think my innate motivation for legacy comes out of a selfish desire to extend my life. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Legacy is rude - My feelings don’t matter when it comes to legacy. I could do something out with the best intentions but others make perceive it as negative. Legacy is action - Impactful legacies aren’t born out of thin air. It takes work. Legacy is controllable - Focusing on the first part of my definition (what I do before I leave), gives me a sense of comfort. I have more control over my actions than over other people’s reactions. Legacy is personal - My legacy is mine. Your legacy is yours. Do with it what you will. Read more about it HERE
