What Is Love?

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today. To begin to love your neighbor as yourself, you need to ask something very important: what love is! The Bible tells us, "This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." That kind of true love is unconditional, sacrificial, full of grace and forgiveness, and makes an effort to bridge the gap. In Christ's case, His goal was to both show us what true love is as well as to reconcile us to God. He did it by dying a gruesome death on the cross for our sins He didn't deserve it nor needed to do it for Himself, but His great love for us kept him nailed to that cross. He died and rose again, and is now in Heaven offering this free gift of eternal life for all who would believe. So let's follow in our Lord's footsteps.
