Welcome to Between the Barlines! We learned in our first episode a little about modernism, but to refresh your memory about this term, MODERNISM in music is less a style than a mindset. Composers questioned traditionalism in tonality, form, rhythm, and timbre. Romantic emotional excess gave way to experimentation and abstraction.
