What Is Our Church's Greatest Need?

Church can feel cold, frustrating or disappointing, even when its people possess impressive gifts and strong discipline. In 1 Corinthians 13, eloquent speech, complete knowledge and costly sacrifice amount to nothing without love. Love is not vague goodwill or a warm feeling. It chooses another person's good through patience, kindness, truth and perseverance, rather than pride, anger or resentment. Jesus first loved His people with this active love, enabling them to give their time, attention and sacrifice while hoping and praying for better days.
