What is Powerlessness?

When you're in recovery, the first is admitting you have a problem and that you have become powerless with your life becoming unmanageable. For a really long time I struggled with the concept of powerlessness and its meaning. The reality is that powerlessness affects you differently depending on where you're at in life. It affects you one way when you're an addict and another way when you're the family member of the addict.
