While the question of what really is tenkara probably was never debated in Japan, it has been a heated discussion topic in online communities. The simple definition of tenkara is pretty straight forward: a rod, line and fly. But, things start getting more complicated when adaptations get introduced to this ages old method of fly-fishing with a rich history. You see, tenkara is its own method of fishing.
