What Is That In Your Eye?

We naturally find it incredibly easy to spot the flaws in the people around us. When a friend makes a poor choice or a family member reacts in anger, we are often quick to point out their mistakes. It takes very little effort to notice the tiny speck of sawdust in someone else's life. Yet, when it comes to our own shortcomings, we suddenly develop a severe case of blindness. We easily excuse our own bad habits, harsh words, and selfish motives while holding others to an impossible standard. This quickness to judge creates a painful distance between us and deeply harms the supportive community God calls us to build.
