Having an open mind is an oft-used phrase. It is a common understanding that having an open mind is useful and beneficial. What does having an open mind mean? Is it not letting your ideas and beliefs become your identity? Think about this: when someone has a contrary thought or opinion, do we feel challenged and react immediately? If the person disagreeing is a loved one, we tend to be patient, but if the person disagreeing is someone we don’t get along with, then battles are drawn. Can we be open to opposing ideas, thoughts, and beliefs, regardless of where they come from?
