What is intimacy? What does it require? Why are we afraid of it? Why is intimacy so important? Intimacy is all about heart and it requires us to reside in our heart so that we can connect to others. But our hearts are both powerful and tender so there is great vulnerability and even risk that comes with intimacy. Ultimately, intimacy begins with being intimate with ourselves and being intimate with ourselves asks us to drop into our heart and be honest with ourselves. “Into Me I See” is a term being used a lot to breakdown the meaning of intimacy. So as with most things, the journey starts within. How honest are you with yourself? Are you living in your heart? Can you be vulnerable with yourself? Can you hold and take care of your fears? These are just some of the questions that lead us to greater intimacy within ourselves and therefore deeper, more meaningful intimacy with others (whether romantic or platonic).
