What is the Purpose of Emotions?

While I talked about how we typically approach emotions in rural America in episode 25, I didn’t get into what emotions are, or what their specific purpose is. In today’s episode, I talk about the purpose of emotions, and why they matter much more than we may think. I’m sharing my thoughts on the key connection between emotions and communication, what various types of emotions are trying to communicate and the needs they represent, and even how a Feelings Wheel can support you with identifying and processing specific emotions. In this episode, we cover:What emotions really are + the limbic system’s role with emotionsThe important connection regarding emotions and communicationExamples of emotions and what they’re trying to communicate + what needs they representHow a Feelings Wheel can help you better specify and process your emotions, instead of shove them downResources & Links:The Feelings WheelJoin the waitlist for the Good Movement CollectiveJoin the waitlist for the Start with You MastermindGood Movement music by: Aaron EspePodcast produced by: Jill Carr Podcasting Connect with Terryn:Follow on Instagram @terryn.drielingCheck out my websiteSend me an email at [email protected] Make sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss an episode!Find the complete show notes here: https://terryndrieling.com/what-is-the-purpose-of-emotions-episode-27
