The recurrence rates for ACC can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the presence or absence of perineural invasion (PNI).1. Without Perineural Invasion (PNI):• The recurrence rate for ACC without perineural invasion tends to be lower, although the exact percentage can vary depending on the study. On average, the local recurrence rate in cases without PNI is around 20-30% over a 5 to 10-year period.2. With Perineural Invasion (PNI):• ACC with perineural invasion has a significantly higher recurrence rate due to the tumor’s ability to spread along nerve pathways. The recurrence rate in cases with PNI can range from 50-70% over a similar 5 to 10-year period, making PNI a poor prognostic indicator. These figures highlight the aggressive nature of ACC, particularly when PNI is present, emphasizing the importance of early detection and comprehensive treatment to minimize the risk of recurrence.References:1.
