What is the value of waiting?

Theme: The Parable of the Faithful Doorkeeper, Scripture: Luke 12:35-40 Much of Luke Chapter twelve revolves around the issue of “stewardship”:o             Stewardship of the Gospelo             Stewardship of Possessionso             Stewardship of Time             Today’s parable deals in part, with the stewardship issue of “waiting” (time). Luke 12:35-40o             Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants who the master finds awake when he comes. Truly I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at the table, and he will come and serve them. If he comes in the second watch or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants. But know this, if the master of the house had known what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left the house for it to be broken into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.              What is the value of “waiting” according to this parable?o             You shall be blessed… IF… you learn to wait well! The most important thing to remember about “waiting-well”:o             Isaiah 40:31- Those who wait upon the LORD, shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings like eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not faint. In other words, waiting for the sake of waiting is NOT a virtue.
