What is wrong with F.I.R.E. and what to do instead : Seek Purposeful Independence.

from CareerZ Cast · host Marcio Saito

Send us Fan MailThe FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement is a lifestyle/investment plan with the goal of gaining financial independence and retiring early through savings. The model became particularly popular among millennials in the 2010s, gaining traction through online communities via information shared in blogs, podcasts, and online discussion forums. I argue in this episode that the goal of "Retiring Early" is misguided and incompatible with building a successful and meaning career that would achieve financial independence early. Instead, I recommend focus on finding your "Ikigai" (combination of doing what you love, what you do well, what is useful to others, and financially rewarding) and success and financial independence comes as a consequence. One can then consider retiring early, but I suggest finding purpose through work is a more fulfilling path. #CareerZCast #fire #career #careeradviceSupport the show
