What it's like owning a movie theatre, with Rivoli co-owner Jonathan Gelatt
from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff
Ahead of Rivoli Theatre’s 105th birthday Friday, co-owner Jonathan Gelatt stopped in studio to talk about what it’s like owning a theatre and the way they’re building community. We also, of course, nerded out on classic movies. On the show, Gelatt talks about why the Rivoli doesn’t always have the big blockbusters right away and, instead, does things like Cult Movie Night or Adventure Films Night to be a better part of both the La Crosse Community and old-school moviegoers. We also discussed other ways to use the theatre — like video game night or Black Friday night — and how theatre owners might take advantage of their own personal big screen. For its birthday, the Rivoli is headed back to the 1920s Friday, showing the Wizard of Oz, as movie goers will have to raid their car center consoles go get in — $.30 for adults and $.11 for kids with $.25 popcorns. Before heading off to Oz at 6 p.m., they’ll have a little presentation. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
