What Jesus Says Will Happen | Mark 13:1–37 | The Gospel of Mark (Msg 61) | 2/4/2024

Mark 13 is all about what Jesus says will happen with the destruction of the temple and his second coming. Two questions should guide our reading of Mark 13: 1) Is Jesus so precious to you that you’re willing to be handed over to death by your family for Christ’s sake? and 2) Is the mission of God so compelling to you that you’re willing to endure intense obstacles to see Christ glorified? Pastor Ben focuses on three aspects of Mark 13 to demonstrate that Jesus's predictions about the destruction of the temple have wider implications for how we understand his second coming. Since Jesus's predictions concerning the temple's destruction were so accurate, his statements concerning his return are reliable, good, and true, God's involvement in the return of Christ will be perfect and intimate, and finally, we can have confidence that his promises and commands are good.
