What Keeps Us From Drifting? (Part 3)

from Oak Pointe Church • Novi Hosted by Oak Pointe Church

God’s Final Word: The Supremacy of His Son What Keeps Us From Drifting? Hebrews 2:1-4 We often hear children declaring, “I don’t need help!” They strive for independence, insisting they can do things all on their own. And in many ways, they’re right. Learning to do things by themselves builds the confidence and resilience they need to grow into capable young adults. But as those children become adults, life grows heavier. Pain, hardship, and unexpected trials arrive, and eventually they ask the question: Can I really do this on my own? From childhood to adulthood to elderhood, every person eventually discovers the same truth: I still need help. No matter how much we learn or accomplish, we never graduate from our need for support. Believers often experience a similar temptation. We can easily slip into the mindset that we’ve “graduated” from the gospel. We learned it, embraced it, and applied it to our lives as young believers. Now, we are tempted to ignore its helping hand and declare, “I can do it all by myself!” But inevitably, life reveals our ongoing need for the good news. In both celebration and hardship, we realize the gospel is the truth that sustains every moment. We will never graduate from it. Join us this Sunday. We will open to the book of Hebrews and learn how to anchor ourselves to Christ as we navigate the waves of this world.
