What Nobody Taught You About Sex | Grace Alice #260
from The Inner Entrepreneur · host Paul Ryan
In this episode, Paul chats with sex educator and author Grace Alice O’Shea about sex, desire, intimacy and why so many of us struggle to talk openly about one of the most important parts of our relationships. Drawing on more than a decade working in sex and relationships education, Grace explains how shame, cultural conditioning and poor sex education shape our understanding of sexuality—often without us even realising it. She explores why losing your libido doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong, why men and women can experience desire differently, and why the sex we're taught to expect isn't always the sex that creates the most pleasure or connection. A loss of libido doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong with you. Sometimes the more important question is whether the sex you're having is actually enjoyable and fulfilling. Good sex isn't defined by what you do, how often you do it or how long it lasts. Pleasure, intimacy and connection matter far more. Long-term relationships require communication and curiosity. Assuming sex should always follow the same script can gradually remove novelty and desire. Feeling desired often begins outside the bedroom. Small moments of affection, appreciation and connection can have a significant impact on intimacy. Pornography is entertainment, not education. Without good sex education, young people can mistake what they see on screen for what real sex and relationships should look like. Talking openly about sex can feel vulnerable, but breaking the silence is one of the most powerful ways to reduce shame and create healthier relationships.
