from Reality Church Vancouver // Spirit+Truth ~ Community+Compassion ~ Renewal+Rest ~ realityvancouver.com · host Kristian Martens - Reality Vancouver
Date: 10.05.30 Speaker: Kris Martens Texts: Luke 16:1-31 Title: What shall I do now? | Living with the end in view The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. - Jesus Luke 16:8-9 NIV The Kingdom of God is one of those big ideas woven through the entire Bible. Throughout the Gospel accounts, Jesus repeatedly describes the Kingdom through stories about common events & customs. In this passage, well see Him teach about the kingdom through an intriguing, profound, and somewhat confrusing parable. Known as the Parable of the Shrewd Manager, this story is rarely taught on for reasons readily seen. But however awkward this unique account, its point rings clear throughout the Gospels- and its lesson is as challenging today as it was when first spoken. Note: For an expository sermon on Luke 16:19-31, see our QuestionReality sermon archives from March 22, 2009. Sermon entitled: What the Hell? of judgment, wrath, hell, fire & El Diablos red stretchy-pants
