What that "tornado" siren means and what fireworks get you a $502 fine with La Crosse Fire's McCormick

from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff

When you say it out loud, ‘Tornado siren’ it seems kind of obvious, but it might not be to everyone. So, Molly McCormick, the La Crosse Fire Department community risk educator, stopped in studio to tell us just what exactly that siren can mean — spoiler alert, it's that there IS a tornado, seek shelter.  McCormick also discusses what’s legal and illegal when it comes to fireworks and what would get you a $502 fine in the city of La Crosse. Last month, when McCormick was here, the city was on pace to have over double the investigative fires for the year. In early June, the fire department had 31 reported calls. They average 35 a year. McCormick has some good news on that front over the past month. Lastly, we chatted about boat and swimming safety as the rivers will begin to flood early next week.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
