Police found their abandoned car in rural Oklahoma near the Kansas border. The bodies of Butler and Kelley in a pasture property about 8.5 miles from the abandoned car. The state of the bodies indicated they died from foul play. Four people were arrested and allegedly belonged to an anti-government group called “God's Misfits”.
