What the Miracles of Jesus teach us about healing part 2

from Redeemer Coast Church Podcast · host RedeemerCoast

Luke 13:11-12, 16: “And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.”… And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?” One of the key things that we need to know is what to yield to and what to resist. If we are unsure or confused about God’s will and purpose, we won’t have the boldness to resist what is not from Him. In this story of the woman who had bent over for eighteen years, Jesus made it clear that it was satan who had bound her. It was not God who had caused her to suffer with that condition. Instead, it was God’s will that she be made whole! After all, she was in covenant with God, she was a daughter of Abraham. When we know who the source of sickness is, we know what we are to resist. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief comes not but for to steal, to kill and to destroy. But I have come that they may have life.” Jesus made it very clear that anything that has to do with stealing, killing and destroying was of the devil. Anything that had to do with life is from God. Based on that statement alone from our Lord, we know that we have the God-given authority to resist sickness, disease and pain. Jesus came so that we may have life! We can yield to God’s will and fully be assured that anything that God does is always good and that sickness is never God’s will for us. It is our responsibility to grow in our faith so that we may understand what already belongs to us in the new covenant that Jesus purchased for us. That’s why we encourage everyone at Redeemer Coast to read their Bibles and listen to sound teaching that emphasises the truth of what we are in Christ and what belongs to us. We build our faith for healing by listening to healing messages and meditating on God’s Word. Some great verses to meditate on healing are: Exodus 23:25-26 Isaiah 53:4-6 1 Peter 2:24 Matthew 8:17
